Does Invisalign Work Dentist Doncaster East Are you considering orthodontic treatment for yourself, your child, or teenager?

If so, you have probably heard of Invisalign, as it is without a doubt the most successfully marketed dental product/service ever launched.

Hundreds of thousands of patients have been treated with Invisalign, and the number grows daily.

At DonEast Supreme Dental, we’ve had great results with our Invisalign, and we’re here to tell you that it really can work, and surprisingly quickly and thoroughly.

What is it?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear (nearly invisible), removable aligners that fit over your teeth to straighten them.

Over time, multiple aligners are used with each successive aligner helping to straighten your teeth further.

They are worn over 20 hrs daily for two weeks at a time, and then the next set is worn similarly.

The number of sets of aligners required differs, depending on the kind and severity of the orthodontic issue being treated.

Now the answer to the title question: Does Invisalign work?

Does it work?

In general, Invisalign works very well. Whether or not it will work for you depends on several factors.

Dental issues it can correct include the following:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Gaps in Teeth
  • Misaligned Teeth
  • Other Issues

So, Invisalign can correct most of the minor, moderate, and even some of the severe issues that a set of metal braces can fix.

The best way to determine if Invisalign can help you’re your issues is to schedule a consultation with us.

But, gaps, crowding, and even crooked teeth can be corrected with Invisalign, often just as well as these issues can be rectified with wire and brackets.

Invisalign works in other ways as well. First, it is nearly undetectable, so if you are concerned with the clunky look of traditional braces, Invisalign might be the way to go.

Second, using Invisalign makes it much easier to keep your teeth clean.

Because your aligners come out for cleaning, it is easier to reach your teeth and gums, and there are fewer hiding places for food scraps and bacteria.

Because aligners come out, there is a third advantage – you can remove aligners to eat, play sports, or play some musical instruments.

Overall, Invisalign clear aligners are an excellent answer to many teeth alignment problems, everything from a few crooked or protruding teeth to more severe issues like overbite, malocclusion, or underbite.

How you can help your Invisalign work?

If Invisalign is right for you, the only issue from your perspective is that it requires a relatively high level of attention compared to braces.

Because you can take your trays out whenever you want, you can also choose not to put them back in, decide not to wear them for hours, or simply forget to put them back in your mouth.

Invisalign works best when it is in place twenty-three hours each day. Patients who wear their aligners for less time than that will not only suffer slower results; they may end up with no results at all.

When your teeth are not in the aligning trays, your teeth can move or shift back in ways the eliminate progress that has already been made.

As mentioned above, aligners can be removed to eat, play contact sports, plays some kinds of musical instruments, and to perform routine oral hygiene.

However, if they are not replaced they lose their usefulness. If you or your child will have difficulty keeping the aligners on your teeth, metal braces are a better choice, as they cannot be removed and they work on your teeth 24/7.

Besides, most orthodontic patients, being treated with Invisalign and other types of braces, have to wear a retainer after treatment is done. It can be frustrating, but it is an essential extra step.

Even after a full treatment with Invisalign, your teeth will start to shift a little again after the aligners are taken off.

When you wear a retainer, your teeth are held in their new positions for longer which will ultimately give you better results.

Some orthodontic patients need to wear one retainer on the bottom or the top, but some patients might need both.

Typically at first, you will wear the retainer all day long, and then you will most likely only have to wear it at night to sleep. Keep in mind that each treatment plan is different.
